Title: open gun safe door equipped with electronic keypad
Post by: TMILLER on July 21, 2015, 08:54:16 pm
New battery installed.
Tapped and banged on door with rubber mallet all around the keypad.
Keypad beeps and flashes as it is supposed to.
Can not hear audible "click" when last digit is entered.
Got it to work a couple of times, but had to leave town, so I locked it.
Any suggestions..........all taken gladly.
It is a Cannon AE35(American Eagle) model with a S&G lock.
HELP

Thanks,
Tom

Call up Cannon - they have a lifetime warranty on parts and a one year on labor. They should have a tech line to walk you through troubleshooting, and if you need a new lock then you've already got them on the phone.

Thanks, Josh. I finally got it to respond.
Cannon is sending new lock and special instructions to open door.
I think I'll replace the keypad with the mechanical dial.
What a price I pay to endorse all of this new-fangled technology!!

I prefer simplicity in many things - especially in safes. Electronic locks give the ability to easily change the combination, but when the smoke comes out, you're stuck. I prefer mechanical locks at home for that reason.

Glad you're working through it. Even more so that you're replacing with a mechanical lock. :)
