Competition Shooting Events / PANHANDLE CLASSIC IDPA MATCH
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:13:10 am »
Hey guys,
It’s about time for our annual Panhandle Classic IDPA match. It will be October the 5th.
It will be an all day, 8 stage, approx 120rnd match with lunch and a supplemental match [either shotgun or BUG. to be determined later] all included in the $40 entry fee.

Don’t delay, we will limit the match to the first 45 shooters.
Contact me for entry form and details

For those of you that have shot this before, ‘nuff said.
For those of you that haven’t, this is designed as a fun match geared toward our local shooters that haven’t or couldn’t attend a major match, to get a taste of how one runs.
Regardless of skill level, this is a way to get your feet wet without the big entry fee or high cost of travel or lodging.

Yes there is a match Sunday 2pm.
If you've ever done any type "action shooting"[shoot and move, move and shoot, draw, reload, etc...] then I'd say jump right in. If not you may want to watch one to get the jest. Or you can do both watch a little while then jump in for a couple stages.
For gear you need a "concealed carry" type holster, mag carriers, a concealment vest or shirt and usually 3 mags. You might be able to get by with just two.
New shooters are always welcome and don't forget we also shoot every Wed night 6:30pm indoors at the Lets Shoot gun range [2309 Line Ave]

Competition Shooting Events / IDPA practice/match notice
« on: June 12, 2013, 10:13:50 am »
This Sunday is our scheduled outdoor IDPA practice/match. It is also Fathers Day. I need to know who is wanting to shoot, so I can decide whether to cancel or not.
If I don’t get a response from more than just a couple of shooters, we will skip it for this month.
ALSO we are now on our summer schedule which means that the START TIME will be 10am from now through Sept.
Let me know,

Competition Shooting Events / 2013 Panhandle Classic match
« on: May 21, 2013, 02:54:58 pm »
Just wanted to put out the word so those of you that are interested in the Pan Classic can mark your calendars.
The Panhandle Classic IDPA style match is scheduled for Sept 22 with setup and RO shoot on the 21st.
For those of you not familiar with this match;
It is our once a year local “big match”.  It was designed for our local shooters that don’t get a chance to travel to major matches so you can get a taste of how a major match goes.
We have put this on now for the last 12 years [ except for two years]
It will be all day long, 8 stages, 4 squads, lunch included, awards,40 shooter maximum with slots available first to local shooters then we invite shooters from other areas.
I will put out an entry form with details and price [approx $35] later this summer. MARK YOUR CALENDAR
Shooter ready?

Not me.Got too many other matches to spend money on this summer.

Hell, I don't blame ya. You need to get away from those "evil AR's", apparently they shoot people.....HAHA.....f#@%king idiots!

Competition Shooting Events / Re: Why no 3gun in amarillo?
« on: December 28, 2012, 12:52:53 pm »
Location, location. Biggest obstacle is a place to do it.
There IS interest in Amarillo. Anywhere from 6 to 10 people from Ama show up at the monthly match at the Pampa range because it's still the closest place to shoot 3gun.
There has been some effort put into finding a suitable place around Amarillo, no luck so far.

Long Guns / Re: Saiga shotguns and aks
« on: December 26, 2012, 01:44:21 pm »
I've converted [restored] quite a few Saiga's and they all make fine weapons.
Hard to say which is BETTER, that depends on your intended use. Each caliber has it's own pros and cons. 5.45 is fast and accurate but less knock down, '39 is cheap [was anyway], fun good knock down but limited rangeVSaccuracy, 308 is well 308, great round but more expensive, more recoil, and harder to find good hi cap mags.
And yes the bolt hold open feature still works fine after conversion. You just have to shorten the tab so you don't accidently "knock" it on during firing.
