I hop on every so often to see what's going on.  Kind of quiet now days.  Maybe everyone's at the range since we can find plenty of .22 shells.

Morton's Lumber (Ace Hardware) in Borger has started carrying a few reloading supplies.  Pampa Reloading in Pampa is also a good place to go.

Sounds like another reason to never trust anything that isn't a five or six round wheel gun...

Hate to hear that.  Bought a lot of stuff from them.  Always had a good visit.

If you load for a long time, your back might get sore from stooping.  I have a tall bench and a tall stool so I can stand up every now and then.

Dale at River Fields did a good job for me several years ago.  There's also a very good shop in Albuquerque in Charlie's Sporting Goods.

Ammunition and Reloading / Re: Help with 357 magnum load
« on: May 09, 2013, 09:36:58 pm »
My Ruger Security Six's favorite .357 load is 17 grains 2400, CCI standard small pistol primer, and Hornady 125 grain XTP bullet.  I get about 1400 fps and amazingly tiny groups.

No.

I prefer 240 grain semi-wadcutter keith bullets for the .44.  Lyman mold 429421 or RCBS mold 44-250-K.  A good 240 grain round nose bullet is Lyman 429358.

For the .38 special and .357 I like 160 grain semi-wadcutter hollow point keiths from Lyman mold 358429, or gas checked 155 grain keiths from Lyman 358156.

I cast them out of wheelweights and lube them with Alox or NRA.

A little bird (well maybe a big bald headed bird) told me your little brother shot pretty good too at the long ranges.

Looks good on the couch.  Now when are you bringing it to Fritch so we can see how it looks with smoke coming out the end?

Antique finish would be just fine.  So would color case hardened.  I'm not that picky.

The big buck's name is Herman.  Glad to hear he made it through another year.  He's on the decline so he probably won't be around next year.  Hope you told him to get back on the Alibates Monument land where he belongs until after youth season.

Hutchinson County has a 4-H shooting club.  878-4026.  I'm pretty sure Randall County has one too, but I don't know their number.  Should be in the book under county agent.

So now for the rest of their life they're going to be known as the one who shot the ceiling fan.
