Competition Shooting Events / PANHANDLE CLASSIC IDPA MATCH
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:13:10 am »
Hey guys,
It’s about time for our annual Panhandle Classic IDPA match. It will be October the 5th.
It will be an all day, 8 stage, approx 120rnd match with lunch and a supplemental match [either shotgun or BUG. to be determined later] all included in the $40 entry fee.

Don’t delay, we will limit the match to the first 45 shooters.
Contact me for entry form and details

For those of you that have shot this before, ‘nuff said.
For those of you that haven’t, this is designed as a fun match geared toward our local shooters that haven’t or couldn’t attend a major match, to get a taste of how one runs.
Regardless of skill level, this is a way to get your feet wet without the big entry fee or high cost of travel or lodging.

« on: June 12, 2013, 10:13:50 am »
This Sunday is our scheduled outdoor IDPA practice/match. It is also Fathers Day. I need to know who is wanting to shoot, so I can decide whether to cancel or not.
If I don’t get a response from more than just a couple of shooters, we will skip it for this month.
ALSO we are now on our summer schedule which means that the START TIME will be 10am from now through Sept.
Let me know,

The Panhandle Classic IDPA style match is scheduled for Sept 22 with setup and RO shoot on the 21st.
For those of you not familiar with this match;
It is our once a year local “big match”.  It was designed for our local shooters that don’t get a chance to travel to major matches so you can get a taste of how a major match goes.
We have put this on now for the last 12 years [ except for two years]
It will be all day long, 8 stages, 4 squads, lunch included, awards,40 shooter maximum with slots available first to local shooters then we invite shooters from other areas.
I will put out an entry form with details and price [approx $35] later this summer. MARK YOUR CALENDAR

Political & 2nd Amendment Issues / Buckle up boys, here we go....

Just got this today. Maybe it should be copied into all the topic categories so everyone will read it.

More hope and change.....

Dear H&H Guests:
No doubt you are hearing rumblings about the shooting sports industry as far as new regulations are concerned. An influx of buying is going on at stores around the country. I want to help shed some light on what is actually happening now. The national election has obviously affected and emboldened some within the anti-gun ranks. We received word Monday morning that California Senator Diane Feinstein's staffers have held meetings with ATF officials to talk about another so-called "Assault Weapon Ban." Those meetings really happened -yes, plural, meetings. Despite one senior ATF official saying they were "going to play everything down the middle" the Feinstein staffers have made it clear they have more of the so-called "Assault Weapons Ban" legislation written and ready to roll. These types of matters will take time to accomplish, but I want you to know it is factual. Next, the United Nations called a special vote in order to prioritize the small arms treaty that had been initially opposed and made a non-issue by the previous Republican administration. The Obama administration seemed to be taking a hands-off approach only a few months ago and we took somewhat of a sigh of relief on that news. However, the vote on reopening the talks passed yesterday, with the United States voting in favor of moving forward. Again these matters will take time to develop before we can see what the actual direction will be. Even though we do have several pro-gun leaders in both parties, the road ahead will be challenging. Stories of ammo shortages or gun shortages are not true but that potentially could change as this buying phenomenon continues. I will do my best to keep you informed and thank you for taking the time to be a part of the shooting sports.

Competition Shooting Events / IDPA at Amarillo Rifle Pistol Club
« on: March 08, 2012, 08:07:56 am »
Starting March 18th we will be shooting outdoor IDPA on the 3rd Sunday of every month hammer down at 1:45pm  at Amarillo Rifle Pistol Club  on north Western St.
We are going to start this off as an organized IDPA practice and then let it possibly evolve to a monthly match dependent on the shooters desire. This will be a very good opportunity for new shooters and veterans alike to develop and hone strategy and technique. If you know someone that was hesitant to shoot in our matches due to inexperience, this is a chance to build “from  the ground up”. Or even if they’re not interested in the game but would like to develop useful and safe gun handling skills this would be for them.
We plan to set up a few stages that include swingers, hostage targets, movement and any other situation that you the shooter want to work on.  We will also work on basic skills and drills necessary to prepare you for shooting matches or possibly defending yourself or your family. Most importantly we will have FUN doing it.
The cost for this is $5 per gun to pay for supplies and a little labor to help set up and tear down each month. ALL shooters are welcome regardless of membership. [we’ll talk about that later..HA]
Looking forward to shooting with you,
