Ammunition and Reloading / Power for reloading
« on: August 10, 2018, 08:55:20 am »
Since Mike Orr closed I have not needed more powder but getting low now. Just curious when you guys get powder if you do not want to buy enough to offset the Hazmat fees.
Mike was very reasonable per pound, but I have no idea.
Thanks for suggestions.

Ammunition and Reloading / Do Not Need .Received from Grizz
« on: December 05, 2017, 12:11:12 pm »
I am in need of .357 magnum dies and would prefer LEE.
I have .38 special dies and yes I know I can use them for .357 But I don't want the headache of changing them when I switch back from one to the other.
It is difficult enough to go from .38 Special Wad cutters to 158 grain bullets without also needing to readjust for .357.
Any interest in selling or trading for LC 30-06 cleaned and deprimed brass with crimp cleared.

Gun Shops & Ranges / Review Damron's
« on: November 23, 2017, 01:39:55 pm »
I am sorta a Military junkie and have M1 Garands with bayonets and decided I needed a 1903a3 because it too served in WWll. Went to Damrons on Hillside and was told they had one at the Paramount store so I went there. Nice people but later I felt like I got taken a bit with the price. My fault I guess for not doing some research on pricing first. The person I talked with was so nice, it never crossed my mind to check on prices first. I bought it and a few days later I was able to buy one on Gunbroker for almost $400.00 less. There was a second one that also sold for the same price. Now I feel like I can never buy anything there again.

Firearm Accessories / AR-15 Front sight
« on: October 26, 2017, 07:33:05 am »
Need help with setting the front sight on an AR-15. I know to go opposite of way you want the bullet to impact target, but-Which way (right turn or left turn) moves it up or down(it isn"t marked)?
Also, how much does each click (notch) move the impact?
So far I have wasted a few rounds and out of frustration decided to ask for directions. Thanks and please send PM so I get it sooner.

I will have ready to sell at Hedley Texas:  65hp Propane tractor3 point hitch $2500, John Deere 310A Backhoe with front loader, $11000, 8 ft. disk $400,, a 1000 lb. self feeder $325, Tri-pod deer blind $60,another tri-pod with fixable damage but much larger for $85,  box blind fiberglass $100 as well as the following.
The sale of my ranch has going thru and if I find a smaller place I will not need all my feeders ect. so I have at least two and maybe three feeders to sale. The two are home made from 55 gallon barrels with commercial funnels inside and commercial  metal fit over caps to keep weather out with three 10 foot legs at a 45 degree angle. All are self feeders with drop down tubes so a person should not feed straight corn. If you are not aware, as little as 2 pounds of corn at one time can destroy the normal bacteria of their stomach and intestines. I usually feed 1/3 corn and 2/3 protein to half and half.
$80 for the each of the 55 g. (350 lbs.) Good 55 gallon barrels to store feed or make feeders $40 each, 30 gal barrels also $35 and all extra barrels have lids. A few commercial galzinized lids also for both 55 gal. and 30 gal barrels, make your own feeders for half price of new.  Hedley is about 75 miles down 287 and 15 m. past Clarendon. If you come call for directions to ranch when you are in or near Clarendon.

Survival and Preparedness / Texas State Guard
« on: January 29, 2014, 06:31:57 pm »
I have found a contact for the Texas State Guard. It is an all volunteer group that reports only to the Govenor and not the Federal government. You supply all your own gear and get paid $121.00 per day on active duty. If interested I can give you a contact with a PM. They meet 2nd weekend every month at Armory in Whichita Falls or do Field Exercises that are usually two days.
I am too old as the retirement age from the Guard is 70. But what better way to secure your weapons?

Survival and Preparedness / Bury Tubes
« on: November 25, 2013, 12:35:42 pm »
Have you consider burying anything to hide it? Have you priced bury tubes online? Over $100 but I admit a bit larger diameter.
You can make your own for about $55.
6 inch PVC , get from irrigation supply or well drilling supply.
Comes in 20 foot joints at around $6.50 a foot.
4 feet pieces should be long enough and get 5 from one pipe joint.
Split with a friend if too much.
End caps can usually be found at many hardware stores such as Lowes for around $14.00 each for about $28.00  to close each end. Glue one and silicone (a lot of it) the other end. Should be able to knock it off when retrieved.

General Off-Topic / More on A Well Regulated Militia
« on: October 04, 2013, 08:48:13 am »
If you are interested I found more information in the Texas Constitution on Militias. The Texas Government Code Chapter 431 states that any Militia formed under Texas State laws is a legitimate Militia. At least that is how I read it.
Google search "Texas Government Code Chapter 431"and see if you see it the same way.

Ammunition and Reloading / Free Lead
« on: September 30, 2013, 01:15:10 pm »
I hesitate to share this but I do not have the time to collect it.
Nearly ever roof that is being replace due to hail has two to five sewer vents that are covered with pure lead including the flashing.
I got it from my own house but cannot get around to more. Watch and get it as they take the shingles off because most just goes to the landfill. They put new on the house.

p.s. If you use this information and get more than you can use remember me.

Ammunition and Reloading / Still Looking for Parts-Texan Shotshell Reloader.
« on: September 30, 2013, 12:49:22 pm »
If you have extra shot or powder (my mind has gone) whatever those little bars are called or measure cups let me know.
I have been given an old Texan shotshell reloader but not much to go with it for 12 gauge
I had one a long time ago but sold all my reloading equipment in a senile moment at a garage sale as you know for pennies on the dollar only to be re-aquiring it 20 years later at todays prices.
If you can help me rebuild this Texan to load 12 gauge shotshells P.M. me or call Rancher at 477-0210

Thanks

General Off-Topic / Official Texas State Militia
« on: September 30, 2013, 12:19:55 pm »
I finally found the official militia contained in the Texas State Constitution at http//:www.texasstatemitilia.com.
Some other AGO members  have also shown an interest and the requirements are not as stringent as I was led to believe.
Check it out and maybe we can form a unit here in the Panhandle.
Think for a moment if the Supreme Court someday has enough like minded Judges to declare that the Second Amendment applys only to a well Regulated Militia and not to an individual. Will you be a criminal or will you be part of a Militia recognized as official by the State of Texas.
There are several units by Region and the North Region of which we are in does not have one.

Long Guns / M1 Garand HRA
« on: September 15, 2013, 09:14:51 pm »
Are there any knowelegable Garand collectors out there that know about the various Garands? I have a Garand with all but the operating rod as HRA. It has a SA operating rod and I would like to know if this is typical.
The muzzle wear is 1 and the throat is 2 so very little if any shooting. Barrel is 1954.
I have found and purchased a HRA operating rod to replace it if necessary to make it a colletors grade and thus worth a lot more dollars.

General Off-Topic / Help, Concealed Carry license renew
« on: July 15, 2013, 08:42:56 am »
I am not sure where to post this to get the most viewers but here goes.

The law is changing on renewals to enable us to renew online but I can not find anything telling me how to do it. My license expires in November and if I don't find something soon I guess I better find a class to be sure of getting it on time.
Do any of you have that information?

Iridium satellite with external antenna as an option but goes with it as well as ear bud. Same model is show is their web site as their most expensive and battery is good. Call me at 806-477-0210 if interested. Iridium has 66 satellites working and about 20 orbiting in reserve. Theirs was one many months ago that got clobbered by space junk.
Price I want is about 1/3 of new price at $550.00, so it is a deal for someone. NEW PRICE-$375!!

I'm looking for some black tipped 30 caliber bullets for my M1 of about 150-190 grains weight. We used these instead of match bullets for practice when i was on a military rifle team and I think they were around 190 grain. They were alot cheaper to shoot than match ammunition for practicing fundamentals.
I found them at Pats Reloading.  $59/100 not cheap but serve my purpose. Just kick my bu--- for trading surplus I brought home 50 years ago. I think I got about 10 cents a round for loaded rounds.
