Gander
« on: November 09, 2013, 09:58:25 am »
Just fyi if you haven't heard or been out there, gander has expanded their firearms selection, including used guns. Grand reopening is next weekend. Some stuff is still a little high but there are a few deals to be had. Dad got a fairly nice cz52 for dirt cheap.
If your paying $50+ for a brick of 22, YOUR part of the problem.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't been in Gander in ages, but might take a look next time I'm passing.

Hmmm I'll have to check it out sometime soon, personally I wasn't very fond of Gander Mountain. But maybe this will be a good change for them.

Walked around Gander last week after I got an email that they were closing out with up to 30% discount.  Some things like ammo were not discounted at all and many clothes were at more than the 40% discount that they were at before they started closing out.  Got another notice that they were now discounting up to 40%, but I think they're going to have to cut a lot deeper before there are any bargains, especially considering how high their original prices were.

I read somewhere (possibly here, or maybe I heard it) that the AMA store has been bought out. So, while the chain is going under, that store is (allegedly) a going concern.

If so, I wouldn't expect any bargains.

Yeah, Camping World put out a list of stores they were keeping open and Amarillo was in it.  I did hear they wanted to clear out the Gander labels, but don't know that part for sure.

A liquidation company is supposed to have bought the merchandise and Camper World is going to reopen as Gander Outdoors with an “appropriate” mix of merchandise.

Was hoping the other bidder in the bankruptcy, Sports Authority, would have taken over.  They seem to have the variety of Cabela’s/Bass Pro with pricing like Academy.

I thought Camping World sold RV supplies
