Hey....if anyone here messes around with small engine repair, or needs parts, I have an old Yamaha 3 wheeler sitting here.
A guy I know dropped it off for repair a long time ago, then he didn't want to pay for the parts, or want to come and pick it up. It needs to go.
Here's what I know....
It would run for only a few minutes, then loose power and die. I had  Yamaha dirt bike that had the same electronics on it, so I swapped them one by one. It didn't make any difference, but since it after a bit of warm up, I was eventually able o narrow the problem down to the stator. Likely a broken wire there somewhere.
Anyway, the back tires seem pretty fair, the front one not so much. It is fairly complete, plastic is fair. It is the model with the reverse gear, 225 cc motor. I remember he handle bars being slightly bent on one side. It is around a 1985 225DR model if I remember right. Shaft drive, and yes, the motor turns over with good compression (it also has a compression release button for starting).
Ask any questions you might need. If someone is interested, I'll drag it out and take pics. It is heavy, and hard to move around.
Yes, it is for free. You'll just have to come get it.
Just let me know.
Kind regards

Hey thanks. That wouldn't have any info on interchange for the stator would it? The motor was beasty, with lots of compression. If it wasn't shaft drive, I'ld make a project out of it.

Anyway, Ya'll's silence has been heard
I'm going to rob the rear wheels and tires for an atv trailer, but I'll leave this up just for a bit if anyone wants anything else.

A few years ago, I simply couldn't find one, other than "reman'" units for over $200.
I was just troubled by the owners laziness and attitude. Lack of cooperation. He passed away a few years ago though.
I just decided to look again, and actually found a few available from $34 to $70.
I think I might just give the whole thing another look-over tomorrow.

My father had a dealer replace one on the four wheel version about ten years ago that I have now.  Was something like $400 through them.  Have seen them for around $200 on eBay.  That one setting until I get motivated to replace the carburetor, fix the starter and find the oil leak.  Just bought a Kubota SXS with hard cab and AC and have three other 4-wheelers running so that may be a while.

Found a second part to factory repair manual. 253 more pages.

Could try to email the .PDF files.

Factory part 1, 148 pa., 47 MB
Factory part 2, 253 pa., 96 MB

Anything on this machine you can use? I really don't have any use for this even if I got it running again. I don't believe it has had a lot of use. The motor still has tons of compression. It'll jerk back a bit when pulling the starter cord. I'm just going to take the front axle, and rear tires and wheels for an ATV trailer. The rest, I'll take apart. All the plastic is pretty good. I can take the motor out, and if you like, I can set anything you might want aside until my next trip to Amarillo, and let you have it from there.
Just let me know. Shame to have a bunch of good parts go to waste.
Just let me know. I am tearing down the shed it was in, so I don't have that much storage for the whole trike. Small parts I can handle.
Kind Regards

Might find that I could use something when if I ever get around to working on mine, but don't on to it for my shake.

Thanks

I'ld be glad to set the carb and starter aside for the next time we get to Ama. Should be within the next couple of weeks.
Anything else you might think of, just give a holler.
